You provide a great example of just the sort of sanctimonious language from rigid clerics that drives me nuts! First there is that cloyingly sweet first line about how we are all God's children and equally loved, and how, of course, the Church, would never say that gays are bad people. But then it comes: POW!!!, right in the kisser, the follow-up about how we do not want these little deviants in our school, and there are all these really nice public schools out there that my be a better fit for YOU people. And God be with you, of course.

The reason I hate this language is that I know they don't mean it. They say it to duck responsibility or to make themselves feel -- to feel righteous -- when they act in ways that are uncharitable, unchristian and bigoted.

He wanted to schedule me for a complete hysterectomy because I had one small fibroid tumor which was causing me to have heavy periods. This was just as I was entering menopause and I told him everything I'd read led me to believe that if I just hung on, menopause would do the job for me. His answer? My poor husband would be deprived of relations with me if I waited.

I gave him an earful. Then I left, called my primary, and said, Get me a real gynecologist!

The new guy said, Oh, for heaven sakes. You don't need a hysterectomy. About a year later, when the bleeding became non-stop and I developed severe anemia, he performed an out-patient procedure to cauterize the lining of the uterus. Problem solved. No more bleeding. I was up and about the very next day.

That was almost ten years ago. Last year, the first (bad) gynecologist was censured for performing multitudes of unnecessary hysterectomies. Ha. Validation for me, too.

I read his biography again. I realize that men of this caliber are going to be exceedingly rare but surely there are others out there. We just need to find them.

We WON'T find them by simply voting the same lame assed corporate whores back into office cycle after cycle. I think they should get one shot at it and if they fail, they're fricking out of there and someone else gets a chance to try.

I had a few email dealings with Mr. Ashburn back when I was battling our Public Utilities Commission over Pac Bell's (Now At&T again) refusal to upgrade rural infrastructure and he's never been anything but a hypocritical little prick.

Just another self hating little Republican asshole taking it out on the rest of the LBGT world because he can't cope with his own sexuality. Hopefully, he's gone for good after this term... sooner if he pulls the usual crap and resigns and takes off for rehab.
